          Before you start

Our prices include all administrative and registry fees for the number of years you are registered with us. Furthermore, every domain name registered with us comes with:

Even if you don’t have a website, you can still reserve as many domains as you’d like – however there are certain rules and regulations for some domain name types.

There are no ongoing fees during the registration period – once you have registered your domain name, it is yours providing you pay the renewal every period it is due – generally each year.

The domain name comes as is. If you require a website or email addresses for your domain, you will need to purchase a cloud hosting plan.

Although there are no limits to how many domain names you can register, you should remember that it is your responsibility to make sure that you do not infringe the rights of any other company or individual.

If you register a brand name or company name which belongs to another company as a domain name, we reserve the right to cancel the registration.

Learning about how this all works

What is .id.au domain type – is it new?

For many years, you’ve seen domain names like com.au, net.au, and org.au – however few Australians realise that they can also take full advantage of id.au to secure their online presence.

          com.au – for companies
          org.au – for organisations
          id.au – for individuals

To be eligible for an id.au domain name, you must be an Australian citizen or an Australian resident. Your domain name should exactly match your personal name or an acronym or an abbreviation of your personal name or otherwise closely and substantially connected to you, like for example a nickname which you are commonly known by.

Can I get more than one domain?

Even if you don’t have a website, you can still reserve as many domains as you’d like to protect your identity. If you have more than one domain, you can redirect the other domain names to your primary domain.

          What is hosting?

If you want a website or email for your domain, you will need to purchase web hosting. If you don’t choose hosting, the domain name will just be a link which you can use to redirect emails to other domains or to another email address.

Domain – like the street address where you live, so people can find you
Hosting – like the building where you store all of your content or media
