How to
- Use split screen: To use two apps at the same time, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the dock. Then, drag an app to the left or right side of the screen. You can adjust the size of each app by dragging the divider between them.
- Use slide over: To quickly access an app without leaving the one you’re currently using, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the dock. Then, drag an app to the middle of the screen. To switch between apps, swipe left or right on the thin bar at the top of the slide over window.
- Use the new home screen: With iPadOS, you can now add widgets to your home screen. To add a widget, press and hold on an empty space on your home screen until the apps start jiggling. Then, tap the “+” button in the top left corner and select a widget to add.
- Use the new Files app: The new Files app in iPadOS makes it easier to manage your files and folders. You can now access files on external drives, zip and unzip files, and create folders in iCloud Drive.

You can adjust the size of each app by dragging the divider between them.

Or, let’s say you’re watching a video in the YouTube app and want to quickly check your email.
With slide over, you can have your email app open on top of the YouTube app.
